Puma Punku sounds like a new fashion designer brand, but it actually is one of the most mysterious paranormal places in the world. Cited as some of the best proof of an ancient, highly-advanced civilization, these ruins located in South America have been puzzling historians for centuries. These ruins are quite possibly some of the oldest buildings ever found on Earth – older than many pyramids. Most scientists suggest that these ruins were built sometime between 500 BC and the middle of the last Ice Age. Yet, they are also so advanced that construction crews today would have great difficulty reproducing these buildings.
Puma Punku’s architecture is striking, to say the least. Each building and platform is made of interlocking slabs of rock. Each rock is cut to a surprisingly high degree of precision. In many cases, these ancient stones cannot fit a sheet of paper in between the interlocking rocks’ crack. Each stone that was used to create Puma Punku weighs about 800 tons, and many of these stones are interlocked and stacked on top of one another. Needless to say, the architectural feats of the citizens of Puma Punku are beyond belief for many.
Much of the mystery remains in the materials that were used in making Puma Punku. The ruins are made of both diorite and granite, which are both slightly softer than diamond. The tools that would have to be used in order to cut through these rocks would have to be made out of diamond, and also would have to be extremely advanced in order to make the exact cuts that the architecture of Puma Punku demanded. Stranger still, there are no nearby quarries where these massive slabs of rock could have come from. The transportation alone would have taken a large amount of careful planning.
Aside from the buildings in Puma Punku, no records remain of the mysterious civilization that created these wonders. There is no writing left behind, nor are there even myths that could possibly point a way to some group of people that were responsible for Puma Punku. Of course, this leads to a lot of speculation about the origins of Puma Punku among armchair paranormal researchers, professional historians, and curious scientists. Here are some of the most common arguments for the people who possibly made these fascinating structures.
- Many people believe that these are the last ruins of a long lost, yet highly technologically advanced civilization that the Maya, Inca, and Aztecs originated from. This is the most likely explanation.
Others believe that the buildings of Puma Punku are the ruins of Atlantis.
A very common belief among those who believe in ancient aliens is that Puma Punku was once an alien city, made by extraterrestrials who were visiting Earth.
Still more believe that these were the remaining buildings of a globally advanced civilization that was wiped out by a cataclysmic flood. Many times, this belief is combined with the Atlantis theory.
So…which theory do YOU believe?
